The Last Holga Workshop

Click here to return to the main workshops page.

The Holga (also it's cousin, the Diana camera) is one of the most compelling cultural phenomena in the last twenty years. It's gone from fad to cult to nearly a serious discipline on it's own over the course of this time - it's anything but easy to ignore! This course is a practical guide to getting to know your Holga on an intimate basis. The course is mostly practical but has a fascinating theoretical component. During the course of this one day workshop, we will be making a small shooting expedition, developing our own film and making our own prints - yes -the old-fashioned way! In a darkroom (experience not necessary but appreciated where applicable). We will show you all the ropes to making your own super compelling Holga images as soon as you leave. Please inquire if you have further questions.

  • technical rundown: what to do, what not to do with a Holga and why
  • Film and Darkroom 101: Film handling and development and printing for Holga usage
  • Getting the best results from the Holga lens and your  film
  • The Frankenholga: successful and not-so-successful modifications - how to push the envelope
