Workshop: The Still Life in Wet Plate with Kerik
This workshop will be focused on the use of the wet plate still life. Long time practitioner Kerik Kouklis will guide you through his thoughts on the process and be showing some of his still life work. This intensive workshop will work you through the potential pitfalls of the still life photograph with the wet plate camera and get you out the other side, bringing renewed vigor to your work - whether or not you've done wet plate work in the past. The workshop will consist of an intitial look at some wet plate work, the history of the medium and strategies for subject/composition. We will then proceed to build some set ups in a special shooting tent outdoors and develop the resulting plates. After a late lunch/seminar we will be looking at the resulting work and discussing the resulting images as well as having a technical debriefing on aesthetics and method.
Space in this workshop will be limited to a maximum of 8 (eight) participants. Workshop length is a full day, held at the dates below at 10 AM . Each participant will be given attention according to their needs. Questions and answers are encouraged throughout the session and individual help is available during the workshops . There will be a lunch break and a tasty panini lunch served with a beverage of your choice. The workshop fee is $275 (members get a discounted rate -and a further $20 off if purchased online, below). Groups also welcome by prior arrangement. Individual instruction is also available upon inquiry. All workshops must be paid for (or else a deposit left) before 72 hours (three days) from the start of a workshop or else a penalty fee of $25 will apply. Please note: there is also a lab fee for this workshop to cover chemistry and related materials. Payment may be made online in advance (see below) at a discounted rate. Payments taken by telephone, fax or in person will be at the normal rate and will not reflect the discount for online purchases.
Please write if you have specific questions about the workshop that are not addressed on this page. |
